It's the Pentastar® V-6 engine, and it's celebrating a milestone.
Chrysler Group LLC recently announced that production of the venerable Pentastar® V-6 engine has topped more than three million units. The award-winning engine can be found throughout the range of Chrysler vehicles, including the popular 2014 Chrysler 200 model lineup available here at Brunswick Auto Mart. In the 2014 Chrysler 200, Akron and Brunswick drivers can enjoy the Pentastar® V-6 engine's responsive performance courtesy of 283 horsepower on tap and great fuel efficiency during highway driving thanks to variable valve timing technology.
"The 3.6-liter Pentastar not only has provided our many customers with billions of miles of reliable service and driving enjoyment," said Bob Lee, Vice President and Head of Engine, Powertrain, and Electrified Propulsion Systems Engineering. "It is testament to our powertrain engineering prowess."
The award-winning family of Pentastar® engines is reliable and versatile. The 3.6-liter Pentastar® V-6 engine was introduced for the 2011 model year to replace seven different, previous V-6 engines, and has been named one of 10 Best Engines three years in a row. It is now used across nine vehicle styles and 17 different models. Further illustrating its versatility, two new additions to the Pentastar® V-6 family have recently been introduced including a 3.0-liter V-6 and 3.2-liter V-6. Through October of this year approximately half of all models sold were outfitted with a Pentastar® V-6 engine.
