2019 RAM 1500 Loses Weight, Gains Power

As Brunswick car dealers, we know sharing information with our customers is key in helping them make an informed car-buying decision. If you’re in the market for a new truck, you’ll be happy to hear this vehicle is about to have a lot more to love for the new model year.

According to carscoops.com, fans of the RAM 1500 should expect mild-hybrid powertrains under new metal in the 2019 model. The new model will feature an exterior appearance with fresh, lighter sheet metal, which equates to a loss of nearly 225 pounds. This will make the truck more efficient and allow it to haul more, too.

The new aerodynamic body is complemented by a more ergonomic interior. Under the hood, you’ll find a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine that delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft torque. However, you can also opt for the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine that achieves 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. An EcoDiesel V6 engine is also reportedly in the works. All three models include an eight-speed transmission for a smooth ride.

Most exciting yet is the arrival of an optional eTorque system, which is comprised of a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist, which will contribute an extra 90-130 lb-ft of torque depending on the model. There will be six trim levels, 12 exterior colors, 15 wheel designs, three cab styles, and three bed lengths to choose from as well.
